Man has a myriad of choices today. In each and everything, he is given choices; not just one or two but several choices. What one gets the most choices of would be clothing. From coats to pants, from blouses to tights, it is all about different choices. Colors, shades, shapes, materials, patterns and even textures… consider a pair of tights. One gets these garments in numerous styles. Ever wondered how these tight fitting leg garments came about amongst our midst? These garments have been in use since a very long time, they were mainly worn by men. The proof of their use comes from the lore about Robin Hood and his merry men; fondly know as the men in tights.
Originally tights were made as skin tight as possible to meet all the practical difficulties during horseback riding. Men of nobility had tights made of silk or fine wool instead of the coarse, rough and harsh material used by the commoners.
These days, tights are usually worn by women and girls. It is also worn occasionally by men. Baby tights and infant tights are also common. Athletic tights are used by both men and women. Recently, there is an increased use of tights in the men\’s fashion world. Most tights are made of cotton or nylon. Lycra tights improve the fitness. The main difference between tights and pantyhose would be their thickness. Tights are basically skintight knit hose covering the body from the waist to the feet. There are many types of tights based on their construction such as control top, seamless and support.
Athletes and acrobats use tights. Athletic tights are usually un-footed; but they at times have a stirrup that goes under the foot. Un-footed tights are chiefly known as leggings.
Tights today are far more advanced than the first tights that came into existence. Tights are made of interwoven fabric. They, hence, have pores in them into which moisturizers and other skin creams can be placed by encapsulation. These are supposed to create a health and beauty effect for the wearer.
