Today we are going to discuss the many different types of jewelry boxes that are available on the market today. The main things that will be gone over are the materials and basic styles.
The simplest design that we will begin today\’s discussion with is the square box. This is the most basic and most recognizable of jewelry box designs that there is.
There are a bunch of different designs and shapes that jewelry boxes come in. just because it is called a jewelry box does not necessarily mean that it can only hold jewelry in it.
Necklace organizers, earring organizers, ring organizers, watch cases, and pocket watch cases are all boxes that fall under the jewelry box name. Most people commonly make the mistake that all jewelry boxes must only contain all types of jewelry.
Next we are going to go over the materials of a jewelry box. Most of these depend on who the box is for. Often times the materials will differ depending on the age and sex of the person they are for.
If the jewelry box is going to be for a little girl then the box material will more than likely be that of corrugated board, cardboard or pressed board. The reason for this is that little girls in general tend to be harder on their things than do grown women.
If the jewelry box is going to be for a grown woman then more than likely the box is going to be of higher quality. This meaning the construction materials will more than likely be that of an exotic wood such as yellow heart pine and the interior be made of silk or velvet.
If the box is going to be for a man the makeup of the box may be a little bit more different. The box still may be made of wood or it may be constructed of metal or leather. Also there will probably be a place to put their watch or pocket watch and cuff links as well.
