Turks and Caicos vacations are a great way to escape the daily grind and relax in a beautiful climate with some spectacular beaches. You can find plenty of resorts that are situated right on the beach and provide a wide range of activities for everyone in the family. This is the spot for diving with the longest coral reef found anywhere on the globe. It should be one of your first stops in the Caribbean.

On the main island you can find one of the world’s best beaches and the flight from the eastern United States is resort which means you can spend a long time or just fly over for the weekend. The two main islands of Turks include Salt Cay and Grand Turk. The capital of Turks & Caicos is Grand Turk and this spot is very historic as Christopher Columbus landed here on his famous Trans Atlantic journey. Salt Cay is one of the smallest islands and is perfect for those looking to get away. This island was important to the salt industry and you can view many Bermudian styled homes. Taylor’s Hill contains some spectacular ruins as well as some of the best views you can find. This is also perfect for whale watching from between January and April.

There are more islands in the Caicos which include East Caicos, West Caicos, South Caicos, Middle Caicos, North Caicos and Providencials. Providencials is the most built up of the islands and also goes by the name Provos. There is plenty to keep everyone occupied as you can enjoy restaurants, hotels, villas, spas and shopping. There are also some spectacular beaches and the longest coral reef found in the world.

North Caicos gets the most rain so it is the most tropical and lush of all the islands. There is a lovely protected lagoon. There has not been an accommodation on the island in the past but new accommodation is being developed. You can enjoy bird watching, local crafts, see some of the largest flocks of pink flamingos in the world or visit a large Loyalist plantation.

If you are travelling to the islands just for diving than West Caicos is the best choice. Much of the island is uninhabited and the ecological areas are pristine. The sandy coves and crystal clear water make this a hot spot for divers. You can view the old ruins of Yankee Town and some old railway works as sisal was cultivated on the island.

There are some spectacular attractions such as the Caicos conch farm which is one of a kind. You can try your first taste of conch, see the conch show, buy conch products and see how conch pearls are created. The Conch farm is the only one in the world and supplies much of the worlds Conch needs.

Cheshire Hall is a great historical spot as this is a ruined cotton plantation that dates back over 200 years.
